RICHMOND TOWNHOUSE
Positioned on Richmond Hill, this was an ambitious project, converting three flats back to a four-storey townhouse with rear and side extensions. Our brief was to rework the internal layout, consider new staircase positions and glazing and reimagine this house to flow as a coherent whole. One of the challenges was to ensure that this family enjoyed living on the lower levels of the house having been used to the third floor with its wonderful views of Richmond. By positioning the stairs in the centre of the house we ensured that the north facing basement kitchen was flooded with light from the first floor. We included a very large skylight and sliding doors which we could afford to do with the cooler north facing light.
Our clients’ love of art and travel informed the colours used in the space whilst the layouts were made to work for entertaining and for the demands of modern family life with teenagers and a dog. Tones of dusty pink and blue soften the modern interiors, whilst enhancing the existing pieces of art.
The planning phase of this project took 6 months while the work itself took a year. Project management of this property was undertaken alongside the client ensuring that they had support and advice when they needed it.
