CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN
This project in Richmond Upon Thames, involved a rear extension with ground floor reconfiguration. The brief was to create a bright modern space with an indoor/outdoor feel without losing the connection with the original Edwardian character of the existing property. The project included a spacious open plan kitchen, dining and cosy living area. A bespoke aluminium pivoting door and pop-out window were central to the contemporary feel and allowed the extension to open up to the garden without feeling overly exposed to the neighbours. A muted pallet of polished concrete, oak, marble and sage green were used throughout.
The kitchen was entirely bespoke and included oak panelling which added a lovely warmth and texture and softened this family room. Clever joinery included a hidden oak-panelled pantry and storage as well as an oak dining bench with hidden storage below. The exterior of the extension was clad in Siberian larch to mirror the panelling of the interior.
The planning phase of the project took 4 months with the work taking 5 months to complete. Full project management undertaken by Hurst + Gillanders.
